MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR AUGUST 14, 2019

 

A meeting of the Common Council was held on August 14, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Steve Bell, Roy Kellar, Shane Litz, Angie Modesitt, Brad Deal and Mayor Brian Wyndham.

The Pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.

Prayer was led by Steve Bell

OTHERS PRESENT: City Attorney Traci Orman, Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen, and Frank Phillips with the Brazil Times.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Angie Modesitt made a motion to approve the July 10, 2019 minutes, seconded by Shane Litz.  The motion passed 5-0.     

 

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

 

OLD BUSINESS: NONE 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Ordinance 10-2019 an ordinance amending title XV (land usage), chapter 150 (building code) of the Brazil City Code of Ordinances.  This is an ordinance which sets out a policy in the event there is a conflict of interest in regards to the issuance of building permits.  Shane Litz made motion to suspend the rules and pass Ordinance 9-2019 on the first reading, seconded by Roy Kellar.  Shane Litz made a motion to approve Ordinance 9-2019, seconded by Steve Bell.  Passed 5-0.

 

MAYOR’S COMMENTS:

Mayor Brian Wyndham stated that he had an estimate done on re-painting the water tower by I-70 and the quote came back around $16,000.00.  Mayor Brian Wyndham also discussed with council about resurfacing the antique airplane on the court- house lawn.  Finally, Mayor Brian Wyndham stated that ideas for funding options were needed for a new pool and splash pad, at the Forest Park.

 

COUNCIL COMMENTS: NONE

 

FUTURE ITEMS:

Next meeting is scheduled for September 18, 2019 at 5 p.m.  A work session to discuss        the 2020 City Budget is scheduled for August 22, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

ADJOURNMENT: Shane Litz made a motion to adjourn meeting; seconded by Roy Kellar.  The motion passed 5-0.  Meeting adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
