MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR JULY 8, 2015

 

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on July 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci Orman and Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett

OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Teresa Glenn, Police Chief Clint McQueen, Fire Chief Jake Bennett,  Daniel Rose, Frank Phillips, Brazil Times Representative

PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 

June 24, 2015, Linda Messmer made a motion to approve.  Ruthan Jeffries seconded.  The motion passed 3-0.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Approval for Clean-Ups and Mowing – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the non abated properties on the Clean-Up and Mowing list for July 8, 2015. Linda Messmer   The motion passed 3-0.

POLICE CHIEF REPORT: Chief Clint McQueen

Chief McQueen will have a full June report at the next meeting.

There is an anticipated new hire for a Full Time Officer.

FIRE CHIEF REPORT: Chief Jake Bennett

Firefighters participated in the Summer Reading Program at the Brazil Public Library.

June Training includes: Fire Suppression Drill Training, EMS and HAZMAT Training.

July Training includes: Fire Suppression Drill Training with Ground Ladders, EMS Training and HAZMAT training.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS:  Mr. Rose wanted an update on the old house next to him.  Teresa Glenn has been unable to get a response from the owner.  Teresa will have to start the process again, since it has been two years.  Another option to consider will be using money from the Rainy Day Fund, per Council approval, to tear the house down.  Teresa will have more information at the next Board of Works meeting.

  • Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve. Linda Messmer     The motion passed 3-0.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer.  Meeting adjourned at10:22 a.m.  The motion passed 3-0.
