MINUTES OF
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 24, 2020
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on June 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci Orman, and Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett.
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan, Brazil Times Editor Frank Phillips
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve minutes from June 10, 2020; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0. (Linda Messmer was absent from the June 10th meeting and abstained.)
NEW BUSINESS:
- Approve Transfers & Sign Deed – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the property transfers for the 2020 surplus property auction and to approve the signing of deeds, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- City-GAI Contract for Inspection (2020 Community Crossings) – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Professional Service Agreement between GAI Consultants and the City of Brazil, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0. GAI Consultants will be providing services including construction observation and a final construction report of the Community Crossings Paving Project. The contract is not to exceed $42,900.00.
- City-DC Construction Contract for Paving – DC Construction Services was awarded the 2020 Community Crossings Paving contract. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Agreement between DC Construction Services and the City of Brazil for the 2020 Street Resurfacing package for $894,833.92, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0. The project is expected to start around August and will be completed by October 31, 2020.
CLAIMS:
Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0
Utilities’ Office -Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0. Meeting was adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
