MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR OCTOBER 10, 2018

 

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on October 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci Orman, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett.

OTHERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Police Chief Clint McQueen, Planning and Zoning Assistant Cathy Hunter

PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve minutes from September 26, 2018; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

OLD BUSINESS: NONE

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Approval of Invoice -Myszak and Palmer (Façade Grant) – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve an invoice from Myszak and Palmer, Inc for Eagles Lodge Preliminary Plan for the Façade Grant for $1600.00; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
  • Hirons Contract – Branding Proposal – Council has previously approved funding to have the City of Brazil “rebranded”. Hirons has submitted a Branding Proposal and will work with the City to provide three draft Brazil brand logos, positioning statements and a demonstration. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Branding Proposal for $10,000.00 with the City of Brazil; seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.
  • Agreement for Easement Regarding Property near Pine Lakes – The City owns property near Pine Lakes and has agreed to allow an easement. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Agreement for Easement; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.
  • GAI Invoice -Road Asset Management Plan/Community Crossings -Linda Messmer made a motion to approve invoice no. 2129864 from GAI Consultants for professional services through Sept. 22, 2018 for the Road Asset Management Plan (PASER Study) for $2,992.00; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
  • Clean Ups – (see list) – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the clean up list for October 10, 2018; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
  • Mowing – (see list) – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the mowing list for October 10,2018; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.

 

 

CLAIMS: 

  • Clerk – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
  • Utilities – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.

 

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

FUTURE AGENDA: Linda Messmer asked about an update on the property next to Ceres Solutions that is owned by the State.  Mayor Wyndham said that there is no change yet.  Mayor Wyndham thanked Janet McClellan and Cathy Hunter from Planning and Zoning for their hard work in cleaning up properties and neighborhoods.

 

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.  Meeting was adjourned at 10:21 a.m.
