MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR JANUARY 22, 2020

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on January 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Mayor Wyndham, City Attorney Traci Orman, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett

OTHERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan, PZ Assistant Cathy Hunter, Brazil Times Editor Frank Phillips, Frank Swearingen

PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve minutes from January 8, 2020; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.  

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

OLD BUSINESS: NONE

 NEW BUSINESS: 

  1. Sewer Adjustment -Brian Baumgardner – The board agreed to table this discussion until the next meeting.
  2. Setting 2020 meeting dates and times – The Board of Works will continue to meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
  3. Resolution 2-2020: Regarding Transfer of Deposits – After review of the policies on transferring deposits to new locations, the City has decided that deposits will no longer be allowed to transfer.  Anyone who opens service at a location will be required to go through the process set forth by ordinance regardless of whether they have an existing service.  Linda Messmer made a motion to approve Resolution 2-2020, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.
  4. Clean Ups – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Clean Up list for January 22,2020, seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.

  1. Clerk – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0
  2. Utilities – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0. 

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.  Meeting was adjourned at 10:13 a.m.
