MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR SEPTEMBER 8, 2021
A meeting of the Common Council was held on September 8, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. in Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Shane Litz, Brad Deal, Angie Modesitt and Karen Boes. Steve Bell was absent.
The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen, City Attorney Traci Orman and Brad Emmert
PRAYER was said by Karen Boes.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Brad Deal made a motion to approve the July 14, 2021 minutes, seconded by Karen Boes. Passed 4-0.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Brad Emmert was present to talk with Council concerning his request for an abatement. Brad Deal made a motion to approve Resolution 6-2021 (real) for a 10 year tax abatement, seconded by Karen Boes. Passed 4-0. Brad Deal made a motion to approve Resolution 7-2021 (personal) for a 7 year tax abatement, seconded by Karen Boes. Passed 4-0. Final Action will be on September 29, 2021 Council meeting.
- , Resolution 8-2021 – Karen Boes made a motion to approve Resolution 8-2021, seconded by Angie Modesitt. Motion passed 4-0.
- – In 2020 the Council decided to do an additional contribution for HSA in November of $1,000.00 for Family, Employee/Spouse and Employee/Child and $500.00 for Employee only, this included all elected officials who had the City Insurance. The council discussed the option oof doing the same in 2021 as in 2020. Council decided that they would like to give half the extra HSA contribution as they did in the year 2020. So Family, Employee/Child and Employee/Spouse would get and extra $500.00 and Employee only would get an extra $250.00 November 1, 2021. Council also decided that they would like the same extra contribution to happen in the year 2022 on November 1st. City Attorney Traci Orman will prepare paperwork.

Shane Litz – Congratulated all on a job well done with the 2022 Budget process.
