THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR DECEMBER 13, 2023

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on December 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.

The Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett, and City Attorney Traci Orman

OTHERS PRESENT: Police Chief Clint McQueen, Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Police Officers Nick Ferry and Zach Overton, Brazil Times Hayley Cooper.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the minutes from November 22, 2023, seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None

PUBLIC SAFETY: None

     OLD BUSINESS: None


NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Parks- Splash Pad – Pay Application No. 5 – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve Pay Application No. 5 to The Peterson Company, LLC for $48,101.92 for services from November 1, 2023 through November 30, 2023 on the Forest Park Splash Pad, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.
  2. Police – Union Contract for 2024-2026 – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The City of Brazil the Fraternal Order of Police Clay County Lodge #114 (Police Union Contract) for years 2024-2026, seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.

CLAIMS:

  1. Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 3-0.
  2. Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:

  • The last Board of Works meeting for 2023 will be on December 27th, 2023.  Claims will be ready for review on Friday, December 22nd due to the upcoming Holiday.

   ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries seconded  

   by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 3-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
