MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR AUGUST 1, 2018

 

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on August 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci Orman, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett. Ruthann Jeffries was absent.

OTHERS PRESENT: Frank Phillips, Brazil Times Editor

PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: NONE

OLD BUSINESS: NONE

AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Brian Baumgartner (former Chris Greenwood property) Sewer Adjustment – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Agreement for Reduction in Wastewater Bill between the City of Brazil and Brian Baumgartner due to Owner’s removal of solids from his septic tank; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
  • Invoice Approval-Strand Associates- Stormwater Planning Study – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve invoice no. 0139659 for Professional Services rendered as per Agreement dated 1/15/18 for the Stormwater Planning Study in the amount of $2800.00 due to Strand Associates; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.  Linda Messmer asked for a reminder of what the study is for and about a completion date on the study.  City Attorney Traci Orman explained that Strand Associates is identifying areas around the City that need Stormwater updates.  The study will be used to apply for other Grants and construction projects.
  • Dashiell Contracting, Inc. -Change Order – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve Change Order No.1 for the Water Systems Improvement Project for a reduction in cost of $7984.50; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.

FUTURE AGENDA: Bid openings for Jackson Street Project will be Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the 10:00 Board of Works Meeting.

 

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer; seconded by Mayor Wyndham.  The motion passed 2-0.  Meeting was adjourned at 10:24 a.m.
