MINUTES OF
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR OCTOBER 27, 2021
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on October 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett, City Attorney Traci Orman
OTHERS PRESENT: Police Chief Clint McQueen, Asst. Chief Dennis Archer, Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Fireman Raymond Staub, Council President Steve Bell
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve minutes from October 13, 2021, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0. Mayor Wyndham abstained due to being absent at the October 13th meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Timberland Real and Personal Property Tax Abatement Calculation Agreements – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Abatement Calculation Agreements for Real and Personal Property for Timberland Lumber Company, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Fire Department Training – TargetSolutions Learning Agreement – Fire Chief Jake Bennett has requested that the board approve an agreement with TargetSolutions Learning, LLC for online learning for training, record keeping and logging, with an annual fee of $1552.00. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the TargetSolutions Learning, LLC Agreement and designate Chief Bennett as an additional signatory, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Dennis Archer-Police Policy – Asst. Chief Archer explained some needed policy changes due to recent changes in law involving de-escalation and types of force allowed to use involving tasers, chemical sprays etc. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Police Policy changes, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA: The November 10th Board of Works Meeting will be at 2:00 p.m. instead of 10:00 a.m. There will also be an Executive Session on November 3rd at 10:00 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0. Meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
