MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR MARCH 22, 2023
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on March 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett, City Attorney Traci Orman
OTHERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Fire Union President Zach Mormans, Street Superintendent Brian Bemis, PZ Administrator Janet McClellan, Warren Artz from Milestone Contractors, Frank Phillips from DLC Media
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the minutes from March 8, 2023, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.

OLD BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
- 2022-2 Community Crossings: Open Quotes for Paving – One bid was received for the 2022-2 Paving Project which will include St. Andrews Dr., Fairway Dr., and McGuire St. Milestone Contractor’s total bid was $87,282.00. The Board will take the bid under advisement and award March 24th at 10:00 a.m.
- US40 Water (Raw Water Main Relocation Project): Van Hoy & Sons Contracting Pay Application No. 3- Linda Messmer made a motion to approve payment of Pay Application No. 3 to Van Hoy & Sons for $123,965.50, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Clean Up List – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Clean Up List for March 22, 2023, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- There will be a Board of Works meeting on March 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
- The next regularly scheduled Board of Works meeting will take place on April 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries, seconded
by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0. Meeting was adjourned at 10:13 a.m.
