MINUTES OF
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 9, 2021
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on June 9,2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, City Attorney Traci Orman, Clerk Treasurer Karen McQueen (Linda Messmer was absent.)
OTHERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Daniel Rose, Fred Grim of ST Construction, Cam McCarty of Milestone Contractors.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve minutes from May 26, 2021 and June 9, 2021; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Mayor Wyndham made a motion to award the City Garage bid to Scott Schoffstall, contingent on approval of Scott Schoffstall as a qualified State Contractor, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Paving Bids: Open Community Crossing 2021 Bids – The following bids were received and opened for the 2021 Community Crossing Paving Project:
ST Construction $360,582.54
DC Construction $387,767.15
Milestone Contractors $362,641.25
Bids will go under advisement and will awarded at the June 23rd meeting.
- Resolution 4-2021: Regarding Transfer of K-9 Bane and Bill of Sale – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve Resolution 4-2021, A Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Police K9 Bane to Clay County Sheriff Department, and the Bill of Sale and Release of Liability, seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Right of Ways:
- 403 W. Hendrix St.
- 307 W. Church St.
- 200 West
- 11 W. Jackson St.
Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Right of Way Permits for Broadband at 403 W. Hendrix, 307 W. Church, 200 West, and 11 W. Jackson, seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Approval-Mowing List (see attached list) – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Mowing List for June 9, 2021, seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Approval-Cleanup List (see attached list) – Mayor Wyndham made a motion to approve the cleanup list for June 9, 2021, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
FUTURE AGENDA: The next meeting will be on June 23rd.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Brian Wyndham seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0. Meeting was adjourned at 10:26 a.m.
