MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR MARCH 10, 2021
A meeting of the Common Council was held on March 10, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Steve Bell, Angela Modesitt, Shane Litz, Brad Deal, Karen Boes and Mayor Brian Wyndham.
The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen, Brazil City Resident Micheal Downing, Sarah Tellechea Clay County CASA Director, and Corinne Scully CASA Marketing and Recruiting.
PRAYER was said by Angie Modesitt.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: None
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Michael Downing discussed with council the need for a stop sign at the corner of Raridan and Jackson Street, people are driving fast in this area.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- CASA – Sarah Tellechea, Clay County CASA Director – gave a quick presentation of CASA to the Council.
- Amending Ordinance 4-2021: Stormwater – This is a change to section #4 of the current Ordinance. Steve Bell made a motion to suspend the rules and pass Ordinance #4-2021 on the first reading, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0. Steve Bell then made a motion to approve Ordinance #4-2021, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Ordinance 2-2021: Amending Zoning Code (919 West Whiterock Road) Second Reading – Karen Boes made a motion to approve Ordinance #2-2021, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Angie Modesitt – Inquired about any update on the paving of the lot at the community corrections building. Shane Litz stated that he would talk with commissioners about this before the next meeting.
Steve Bell – Stated that he was approached by a resident about making South Leavitt Street a one-way, South bound. Steve requested the Street Superintendent take a look at the possibility of a one-way. Steve also wanted to recognize the Northview Boys Basketball and the Northview Bowling teams on their Sectional Wins. Finally, Steve questioned the process of the Community Crossings Grant and the selection of roads, he would like the council to have some say so in the selection of roads. Mayor Brian Wyndham explained the process to Steve.
MAYOR COMMENTS: Mayor Brian Wyndham requested that the council look into the possibility of a 3-way stop sign at the corner of Pinkley and Edgewood Drive. He explained that the county would also have to agree. He stated that it would slow down traffic.

Next City Council Meeting scheduled for April 14, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT: Brad Deal made a motion to adjourn meeting; seconded by Karen Boes. The motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 5:58 p.m.
