MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR December 30, 2024
A meeting of the Common Council was held on December 30, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
PRAYER: Was led by Karen Boes.
ROLL CALL: Council members present, Shane Litz, Steve Bell, Karen Boes, Angie Modesitt and Brad Deal.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen and City Attorney Lou Britton.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Brad Deal made a motion to approve minutes from December 9, 2024, seconded by Shane Litz. Angie Modesitt and Karen Boes abstained.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Additional Appropriations – Ordinance 19-2024 was presented by Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen – Angie Modesitt made a motion to suspend the rules and pass Ordinance 19-2024 on the first reading, seconded by Steve Bell. Motion Passed 5-0. Angie Modesitt then made a motion to approve Ordinance 19-2024, seconded by Steve Bell. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Transfers 2024 were presented by Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen – Shane Litz made a motion to approve Transfers 2024, seconded by Karen Boes. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Resolution 12-2024 Authorizing the Reimbursement of certain expenditures made prior to the issuance of long-term financing – Steve Bell made a motion to approve Resolution 12-2024, seconded by Brad Deal. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Ordinance 20-2024 Establishing an area for Core Physical Therapy – Ordinance 20-2024 was tabled until the next meeting scheduled for January 8, 2024.
- Meeting Dates and Times for 2025 and New Council President – Brad Deal made a motion for the meeting dates and times to stay the second Wednesday of each month at 5 pm and a second meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5 pm if needed, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0. Brad Deal then made a motion for Angie Modesitt to be the New Council President for the 2025 year, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
- Angie Modesitt – None
- Steve Bell – inquired about a trailer that has been sitting on Meridian Street at the Davis Times Building, he stated that the trailer has not moved and is up on blocks. Steve would like the Mayor to look into this. Mayor Brian Wyndham state that he would.
- Brad Deal – Commented that he would like to see the meeting times and dates for 2025 stay the same as they were in 2024.
- Karen Boes – None
- Shane Litz – None
MAYOR COMMENTS:
- Mayor Brian Wyndham stated that he is looking forward to the year 2025 and the projects coming up.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: the nextCouncil Meeting is on January 8, 2024.
ADJOURNMENT: Brad Deal made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Angie Modesitt. Motionpassed 5-0. Meeting adjourned @ 5:42 p.m.
