MINUTES OF
THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JANUARY 8, 2025
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on January 08, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
The Pledge was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Linda Messmer, Ruthann Jeffries, Clerk – Treasurer Karen McQueen, Deputy Clerk – Treasurer Jill Bennett and City Attorney Lou Britton.
OTHERS PRESENT: Brazil City Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Brazil City Police Chief Clint McQueen, Ivy Jacobs with the Brazil Times, HR Administrator Mary Jo Archer, Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan, and Planning and Zoning Assistant Cathy Hunter.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Set Dates and Times for 2025 Meetings – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to keep meeting times as the same as 2024, the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 10 a.m., seconded by Linda Messmer. Motion Passed 3-0.
- Change of Holidays Dates – Brazil HR Administrator Mary Jo Archer presented board members with a change to the current Holiday Policy. Change would make two Election Days into Personal Days to be observed when the employee chooses. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the new policy, seconded by Linda Messmer. Motion Passed 3-0. New policy attached to minutes.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- The next meeting will be held January 22, 2025, @ 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries, seconded
by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0. The meeting was adjourned at 10:09 a.m.
