THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR DECEMBER 11, 2024
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on December 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
The Pledge was led by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Linda Messmer, Clerk – Treasurer Karen McQueen, Deputy Clerk – Treasurer Jill Bennett and City Attorney Lou Britton. Ruthann Jeffries was absent.
OTHERS PRESENT: Brazil Times Rep. Hayley Cooper, Business Owner Mark Adamson, Business Owner JD Burk, Brazil Township Trustee TJ Sneddon, Brazil City Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Brazil City Firefighters Chris Moon and Cody Byers.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the minutes from November 27, 2024, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Representatives from the Brazil City Fire Department Union were present to have Board of Works members approve and sign salary increases. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve Fireman salary increase in Union Contract, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Mark Adamson, sewer adjustment – Linda Messmer made a motion to change sewer adjustment for Mark Adamson to every two years instead of every year, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0. Linda Messmer then made a motion to approve the sewer adjustment, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
- JD Burk, sewer adjustment – Linda Messmer made a motion to change sewer adjustment for JD Burk to every two years instead of every year, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0. Linda Messmer then made a motion to approve the sewer adjustment, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
- Brazil Township Trustee TJ Sneddon, renewal of contract – Trustee TJ Sneddon presented the 2025 contract to Board of Works members, contract is between Brazil Township and the City of Brazil Fire Department for Fire Protection. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the contract between the Brazil Township and the City of Brazil for Fire Protection, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
- Reissuance of Payroll Fund checks – see attached – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the reissue of checks, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
- Reissuance of General Fund checks – see attached – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the reissue of checks, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. Motion Passed 2-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Mayor Brian Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.

- The next meeting will be held December 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer seconded
by Mayor Brian Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0. The meeting was adjourned at 10:13 a.m.
