MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR June 10, 2026
A meeting of the Common Council was held on June 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
PRAYER: Was led by Karen Boes.
ROLL CALL: Council members present, Brad Deal, Angie Modesitt, Steve Bell, Shane Litz and Karen Boes.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen, City Attorney Lou Britton, Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan and City of Brazil Resident Marjorie Hopkins.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Steve Bell made a motion to approve May 13, 2026 with corrections of Steve Bell leading the prayer and under New Business number two, the word speed was corrected, seconded by Karen Boes. Motion Passed 5-0.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Resolution 2-2026 Purpose of Real Property Tax Abatement for Turnout Metals, LLC. – Brad Deal made a motion to approve, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Animal Code – Proposed Changes – was tabled until the July 8, 2026 meeting.
- Ordinance for Animal Code- wastabled until the July 8, 2026 meeting.
- Britt Tool CF-1 – Council reviewed CF-1 and unanimously agreed that Britt Tool had exceeded their standards. Shane Litz made a motion to approve CF-1 as they were in substantial compliance, seconded by Angie Modesitt. Motion Passed 5-0.
- Stop Signs – Deer Creek/Central Avenue – Councilman Steve Bell met with the Street Superintendent Brian Bemis over request for stop signs on Central Avenue. Steve Bell stated that stop signs could be potentially problematic due to design of attached side roads. Steve Bell made a request of potential speed limit signs and a police presence.

MAYOR COMMENTS:
- Mayor Brian Wyndham – Mayor Wyndham reminded every one of the Rotary 4th of July Parade this year on Jackson Street. Mayor Wyndham also wanted Council to start thinking about the 2025 Bond money. He had several suggestions such as: Golf cart paths @ Forest Park, Purchase of 3 lights @ the Building Trades Subdivision, Splash pad recirculation system, Sidewalk repairs, and Park Parking Lots. Mayor Wyndham also stated that the Water Line Project was running smoothly.
