MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR August 27, 2025
A meeting of the Common Council was held on August 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Council President Angie Modesitt.
PRAYER: Was led by Karen Boes.
ROLL CALL: Council members present, Steve Bell, Karen Boes, Brad Deal, Shane Litz and Angie Modesitt.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Clerk-Treasurer Karen McQueen, City Attorney Lou Britton, Brazil City Police Chief Clint McQueen and Brazil City Fire Chief Jake Bennett.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Shane Litz made a motion to approve July 9, 2025, seconded by Karen Boes. Motion Passed 5-0.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: None
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Ordinance 10-2025 for stop signs was introduced and corrected. Brad Deal made a motion to suspend the rules and pass Ordinance 10-2025 on the first reading, seconded by Shane Litz. Motion passed 5-0. Brad Deal then made a motion to approve Ordinance 10-2025, seconded by Karen Boes. Motion passed 5-0.
- Revoke Chicken Coop Application – Brazil City Police Chief Clint McQueen was present to speak with council on revoking this Chicken Coop. Chief McQueen explained the coop was in violation and needed the coop to be revoked so that fines can be issued for non-compliance. Brad Deal made a motion to revoke chicken coop, seconded by Steve Bell. Motion passed 4-1, Karen Boes abstained.

- Angie Modesitt – None
- Steve Bell – Thought that National Night Out was a success and wanted to say that the Police Chief Clint McQueen and the Fire Chief Jake Bennett did a great job. Steve stated that the event was well attended. Steve also wanted to thank Benny Boes, our new City of Brazil Code Enforcement Officer for doing a great job enforcing codes within the city.

ADJOURNMENT: Brad Deal made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Karen Boes. Motionpassed 5-0. Meeting adjourned @ 5:12 p.m.
