THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 24, 2026
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on June 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Ruthann Jeffries. The Pledge was led by Ruthann Jeffries.
ROLL CALL: Linda Messmer, Ruthann Jeffries, Deputy Clerk – Treasurer Jill Bennett, City Attorney—Lou Britton, and Mayor Brian Wyndham – absent
OTHERS PRESENT: Susan Patterson – Mayor’s Secretary, Clint McQueen – Police Chief, Cathy Hunter – Planning and Zoning Assistant, Planning and Zoning Administrator – Janet McClellan, Code Enforcement Officer – Benny Boes, Jake Bennett – Fire Chief, Connie Wells – Payroll Clerk
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the minutes from June 10, 2026, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.

OLD BUSINESS:
- None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Police Chief Clint McQueen gave Police Activity Report for May 2026. He also indicated there will be a parade on July 4, 2026 that starts at the Forest Park Plaza and will end at Forest Park in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
- Linda Messmer made a motion to approve a Strand Associates invoice in the amount of $275.56 subject to confirmation per the State that we were awarded the grant funds, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. Motion passed 2-0.
- Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the final B&T Drainage pay application in the amount of $152,849.19 to be submitted to SRF for payment, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. Motion passed 2-0.
- Linda Messmer made a motion to approve Brandon Brock as the new Brazil Firefighter, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. Brandon already has his Firefighter I/II training and has his EMT certification as he is currently working at Star Ambulance. Motion passed 2-0.
- Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Mow list that is attached for June 24, 2026, seconded by Linda Messmer. Motion passed 2-0.
- Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Cleanup list that is attached for June 24, 2026, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. Motion passed 2-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 2-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- The next meeting will be held July 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer seconded
by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 a.m.
