MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR AUGUST 8, 2018
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on August 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett. City Attorney Traci Orman was absent.
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan, Planning and Zoning Assistant Cathy Hunter, Frank Phillips, Brazil Times Editor, Daniel Rose, Nicole Hunt and Travis Hunt of ST Construction, Jim Bowling of JR Bowling
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve minutes from July 25, 2018 and August 1, 2018; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0. Ruthann Jeffries abstained due to absence during those meetings.

NEW BUSINESS:
- Open Bids for Jackson St. Sidewalk Project – The following bids were received and opened:
- ST Construction, Terre Haute, IN $378,751.40
- JR Bowling, Greencastle, IN $448,729.52
- Mershon & Sons Concrete, Brazil, IN $373,718.20
- Edward & Jones Concrete, Indianapolis, IN $459,833.30
Bids will be taken under advisement and will be awarded at the next Board of Works Meeting.
- Approval of Property Purchase – The City has agreed to purchase property commonly known as 102-108 N. Turner St. and 403 N. Ashley St. and formerly designated as a trailer park. Appraisals have been completed and agreed purchase price is $50,000. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Real Estate Purchase Agreement between the City of Brazil and Gary Lutz for property at 102-108 N. Turner St. and 403 N. Ashley St; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Clean Ups (see list) -Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Clean Up List from August 8, 2018; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Mowing (see list) – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Mowing List from August 8, 2018; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
Utilities – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
