2.) Trash Proposals – Proposals were received from Wallace Bros. and Republic Services for the purpose of servicing City trash customers. The Board has reviewed and scored the proposals. Linda Messmer made a motion to enter into a contract with Wallace Bros., subject to a Public Hearing, final vote by Board of Works, and mutual terms agreement; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
Mayor Wyndham commented that the reasons we had to look at other options is to avoid large increases. There has not been a rate increase for 7 years, and to bring our service up to date, we would have to implement a large rate increase. Fuel expenses and repairs on sanitation trucks have been bigger this year. The City will still maintain a portion of the Sanitation Department including limb pickup. Mayor Wyndham also stated that Wallace Bros. would supply trash bins for all customers and that recycling would also be included.
A Public Hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 17, 2016.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
