MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 15, 2016
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on June 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Teresa Glenn, Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Brazil Times Representative Frank Phillips, Brad Twilla of Demolition Environmental Services, Ryan Wallace of West Point Properties, LLC.
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham.
FIRE CHIEF REPORT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett- June Report
• Brazil City Firefighters have responded to 1 vehicle fire, 1 brush fire, 2 utility hazards, 3 public assistance calls, 2 motor vehicle accidents and 23 medical assistance calls.
• Training has included Fire Suppression Drill Training, EMS Airway Training and HAZMAT review of specific tankers.
• Site visits are being conducted at Town Parke Exceptional Living Center on 503 S. Murphy Ave. On shift firefighters are familiarizing themselves with the layout and alarm system prior to occupancy scheduled on June 20th.
NEW BUSINESS:
1.) Open Bids for Demo of BEP Properties (Blight Elimination Properties) – Two bids were received and opened for removal of 9 BEP Properties.
Demolition Environmental Systems – $139,918.75
West Point Properties – (packet was opened but was blank)
Bids will be taken under review and will be awarded at the next Board of Works Meeting.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. Meeting adjourned at 10:14 a.m. The motion passed 2-0.
After a discussion between Mayor Wyndham and his assistant Susan Patterson, the West Point Properties, LLC bid packet was located.
All persons were brought back into Council Chambers and the meeting was reconvened. At this time the West Point Properties bid was opened and read:
West Point Properties, LLC – $69,000.00
Bids were taken under advisement and will be awarded at the next Board of Works meeting.
