MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 13, 2018
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on June 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, City Attorney Traci Orman, PZ Assistant Cathy Hunter. Linda Messmer was absent.
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Janet McClellan, Police Chief Clint McQueen, Council President Steve Bell, Brazil Times Editor Frank Phillips
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve May 23, 2018 and June 6, 2018 minutes; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.

OLD BUSINESS: NONE
POLICE CHIEF REPORT: Police Chief Clint McQueen
- There were 748 calls for service for May 2018 which led to 32 arrest, 66 tickets, 83 warnings and 16 crashes
- The Police Dept. is fully staffed with 14 officers, and 14 fully marked cars
NEW BUSINESS:
- Invoices -GAI (Jackson St. Inventory & ADA Ramp Design) – Mayor Wyndham made a motion to approve invoice no. 2125790 for $18,690.00 from GAI Consultants for Professional Services through May 19, 2018 for the Brazil-Jackson St. Sidewalk and ADA Ramp Design Project; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0. City Attorney Traci Orman said that the project drawings are coming along.
- Invoice -Midwestern Engineers (Water Improvement Grant) – Mayor Wyndham made a motion to approve invoice no. 5 for $800.00 from Midwestern Engineers for services rendered December 18, 2017 through May 19, 2018 and Dashiell pay application no. 6 for $35,700.00 for the Water Improvement Grant Project and; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0. The project completion date is expected to be July 31, 2018.
- Bids from 401 W. National Ave. – One bid from Global Construction Management for $183,581.00 was received and opened at the June 6, 2018 Board of Works Meeting. The bid was taken under advisement. Mayor Wyndham made a motion to reject the bid from Global Construction Management; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
- Resolution 3-2018: Appointing Appraisers – Resolution 3-2018 is a resolution allowing the City of Brazil to appraisers to appraise any potential properties the City may be interested in purchasing in 2018. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve Resolution 3-2018, a resolution to appoint David Masten and Brian Conley as appraisers for the City of Brazil for 2018, and to allow Mayor Wyndham to appoint a certified appraiser in the event that either appraiser is unavailable to perform a necessary appraisal: seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Mowing – Mayor Wyndham made a motion to approve the mowing list for June 13, 2018; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
- Clean Ups – Mayor Wyndham made a motion to approve the clean-up list for June 13, 2018; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.

- Clerk – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
- Utilities – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Mayor Wyndham. The motion passed 2-0.
