MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR DECEMBER 27, 2023
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on December 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
The Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett, and City Attorney Traci Orman
OTHERS PRESENT: Water Supt. Shawnette Szekely, Brazil Township Trustee T.J. Sneddon, Mark Adamson from Adamson’s Fabric Care Service, Brazil Times Hayley Cooper.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the minutes from December 13, 2023, with changes, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.

NEW BUSINESS:
- Wastewater:
- Agreement with Spencer – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve a 6-month agreement between the City of Brazil and Spencer, to provide a Wastewater Operator (Dallas King), seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Mark Adamson – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve a 10% reduction in wastewater bills every month for the year 2024 for Adamson’s Fabric Care Service, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Fire – TJ Sneddon, Brazil Township Trustee, was present to discuss the 2024 Fire Protection Contract between Brazil Township and the City of Brazil. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the 2024 Contract for Fire Protection, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- The next Board of Works Meeting will be January 10th at 10:00 a.m.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries seconded
by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0. The meeting was adjourned at 10:09 a.m.
