MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR OCTOBER 11, 2017
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on October 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Ruthann Jeffries.
ROLL CALL: Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Susan Patterson
OTHERS PRESENT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Vicki Lawhorn, Oscar Sison, Daniel Rose
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Ruthann Jeffries.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: September 27, 2017; Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
OLD BUSINESS: NONE
AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
- Business owner Oscar Sison made a request for an appeal for a 3rd water adjustment. Discussion was held. Linda Messmer made a motion to table this until the next meeting; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
- Brazil citizen Daniel Rose commented that traffic on Meridian Street was going both ways instead of one-way as it should be. Linda and Ruthann agreed to speak with Chief McQueen about this issue.
FIRE CHIEF REPORT: Chief Jake Bennett
- In September, the Fire Department had 53 calls for service.
- Completed hydrant flushing and flow testing of the City’s water system. 40 hydrants are out of service and 10 new hydrants have been added since last year.
- Maintenance – The Aerial Truck is currently having preventive maintenance and other minor repairs completed and is expected to return later this week.
NEW BUSINESS:
- MS Manufacturing LLC (KIHM Metal)-Abatement Calculation Agreement Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Abatement Calculation
Agreement between MS Manufacturing, LLC; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.
The motion passed 2-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
- Utilities – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 2-0.
