THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY

BRAZIL, INDIANA

FOR OCTOBER 8, 2025

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Ruthann Jeffries. The Pledge was led by Ruthann Jeffries.

ROLL CALL: Linda Messmer, Ruthann Jeffries, Deputy Clerk – Treasurer Jill Bennett, City Attorney Lou Britton, and Mayor Brian Wyndham – absent          

OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Assistant – Cathy Hunter, Planning and Zoning Administrator – Janet McClellan, Fire Chief – Jake Bennett, Police Chief – Clint McQueen, Code Enforcement Officer – Benny Boes, IT – Dave Archer, Payroll Clerk – Connie Wells, City Clerk – Karen McQueen  

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The approval of minutes for September 24, 2025 was tabled due to Linda Messmer not being present at the last meeting Board of Public Works and Safety meeting and Mayor Brian Wyndham not being present at this Board of Public Works and Safety meeting. The minutes for the September 24, 2025 meeting will be on the agenda for approval at the October 22, 2025 meeting.  

OLD BUSINESS: None 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Police Chief Clint McQueen presented Police Activity Report for September 2025, report attached.
  2. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve invoices for Strand Associates in the amount of $7,700.00 and $1,406.55 for the Colony Acres Sewer project, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  Motion Passed 2-0.
  3. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Cleanup list that is attached for October 8, 2025, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  Motion passed 2-0.

CLAIMS:

  1. Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 2-0.
  2. Utilities’ Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Linda Messmer.  The motion passed 2-0.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:

  • The next meeting will be held October 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Messmer seconded  

by Ruthann Jeffries.  The motion passed 2-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
