MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR AUGUST 10, 2016
A meeting of the Common Council was held on August 10, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Steve Bell, Brad Deal, Roy Kellar, Shane Litz, Angela Modesitt.
The Pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham.
OTHERS PRESENT: City Attorney Traci Orman, Clerk Treasurer Karen McQueen
PRAYER was said by Roy Kellar.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: July 13, 2016 Shane Litz made a motion to approve; seconded by Roy Kellar. The motion passed 4-1. Brad Deal abstained.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: NONE
OLD BUSINESS:
1.) Rogene Morge – Habitat for Humanity – A house was built by Habitat for Humanity at 518 E. Ridge St. A new survey was performed and it appears that the porch extends all the way to the property line but does not encroach into the platted street as previously thought. Rogene Morge was advised to contact Planning and Zoning Administrator Teresa Glenn, as Rogene will need to request a variance for the property setback requirements through the Board of Zoning Appeals.
NEW BUSINESS:
1.) Timberland Tax Abatement – Final Action on Resolution 8-2016 and Abatement Calculation Agreement- Shane Litz made a motion to approve the Final Action on Resolution 8-2016 and the Abatement Calculation Agreement regarding Timberland Home Center personal property tax abatement contingent upon receiving Timberland’s signature to the Abatement Calculation Agreement; seconded by Steve Bell. The motion passed 5-0.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
• Angie Modesitt – Would like for someone to look at the City owned parking lot on Washington Street.
• Steve Bell – Commented about signs being nailed to poles in the City as well as grass clippings left on sidewalks and streets. He would like to see these stopped.

Shane Litz made a motion to adjourn meeting, seconded by Roy Kellar. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 5:39 p.m.
