MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR JUNE 11, 2025
A meeting of the Common Council was held on June 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.
PRAYER: Was led by Karen Boes.
ROLL CALL: Council members present, Steve Bell, Karen Boes, Brad Deal, Shane Litz and Angie Modesitt.
OTHERS PRESENT:
- Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Jill Bennett, City Attorney Lou Britton, Jared Jernagan from the Banner Graphics, Jake Bennett – Brazil City Fire Chief, Steve Day – Brazil citizen.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from May 28, 2025 were tabled due to corrections needing to be made.
AUDIENCE COMMENTS: Steve Day who lives at 705 N Meridian St.is concerned with Joink coming through the area. They had dug up the tree row area and had left it a mess. Also, the alley behind is house is washing out. Mayor Wyndham will check with the Street Department to see what needs to be done to correct the issues at his house.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
- Application for Chicken coop – Caitlin Odell at 723 N Harrison St. The application will be tabled until Brad Deal has an opportunity to check this property due to it being in his ward.
- The new street at Holly Brook is being named Woodland Court. Janet McClelland will get the street on the inventory list.
COUNCIL COMMENTS:
- Angie Modesitt – None
- Steve Bell – He is questioning the trailer parked outside of Davis Zeller on Meridian St just off of National Ave. Mayor Wyndham will ask Police Chief Clint McQueen about being noncompliant. Fire Chief Jake Bennett will send phone number to Steve Bell for property management of the building. He also indicated that the City is working on fixing the lot at the corner of Franklin and Pinckley St.

- Shane Litz – Joink has done a great job with installation in St. Andrews and Forest Green.
MAYOR COMMENTS:
- Mayor Brian Wyndham – The water bond was recently closed on. Colony Acres Sewer project came in higher than expected. The City of Brazil is waiting to see if more money will be allocated for us to proceed with the project. The State want us to upgrade part of the water treatment. Annexation of Colony Acres will not happen due to not enough interest.

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: the nextCouncil Meeting is on July 9, 2025.
ADJOURNMENT: Brad Deal made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Shane Litz. Motionpassed 5-0. Meeting adjourned @ 5:19 p.m.
