MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2024
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on September 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
The Pledge was led by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett
OTHERS PRESENT: Attorney DJ Bonomo of Cox, Zwerner, Gambill & Sullivan, Asst. Police Chief Dennis Archer, Fire Chief Jake Bennett, PZ Asst. Cathy Hunter, Brazil Times Rep. Hayley Cooper
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the minutes from August 28, 2024, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.

OLD BUSINESS: None
PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT: Fire Chief Jake Bennett
- In August 2024 the Fire Department responded to 60 calls for services, compared to 67 calls in August of 2023.
- Mayor Wyndham thanked Chief Bennett for displaying the Garrison Flag at City Hall for 9/11.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Approval of Cleanups (see list) – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the Cleanup list for September 11, 2024, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Approval of Mows (see list) – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Mow list for September 11, 2024, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk’s Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the claims from the Clerk’s Office, seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities’ Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the claims from the Utilities’ Office, seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
- The next meeting will be September 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers
