MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR NOVEMBER 22, 2017
A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on November 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett
OTHERS PRESENT: Midwestern Engineers Project Manager Steve Bender, Brazil Times Editor Frank Phillips
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: November 8, 2017; Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
- Wabash Valley Asphalt Co. Invoice – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve an invoice from Wabash Valley Asphalt for $97,123.03 for Community Crossing Street Repaving for October/November 2017; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Midwestern Engineers, Inc. Invoice (Water Improvements) – Steve Bender, Project Manager from Midwestern Engineers gave an update on the water project. The main line work is complete and pressure testing occurred yesterday. One pressure issue was found but it has been corrected. Individual service taps will be coming soon. There will probably not be any paving done this year due to the cold temperatures. Overall the project is going well. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve an invoice from Midwestern Engineers for $13,743.00 for inspection and engineering services; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
- Matt Kunkler-Cell Phone Reimbursement – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve employee Matt Kunkler from the Water Distribution department to receive the monthly cell phone reimbursement from the City; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
CLAIMS:
- Clerk – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
- Utilities – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve; seconded by Ruthann Jeffries. The motion passed 3-0.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
MAYOR COMMENTS: A written request was received from Glade Wilkes and Jana Wilkes of 8480 N. St. Andrews Drive. The Wilkes are requesting a $180 wastewater credit to their bill of $425. Mayor Wyndham explained that they need to get a lawn meter to avoid this happening again. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the adjustment; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0.
ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer. The motion passed 3-0. Meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
