MINUTES OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR APRIL 8, 2015

A meeting of the Common Council was held on April 8, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brian Wyndham.

ROLL CALL: Mayor Brian Wyndham, Brad Deal, Carrol Evans, Michelle Harden-Price, Tyler Hutcheson. Ann Bradshaw was absent. Also in attendance: Traci Orman, City Attorney and
The Pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham
PRAYER was said by Brad Deal

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from March 11, 2015; Tyler Hutcheson made a motion to approve; seconded by Carrol Evans. The motion passed 4-0.

OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS:
1.) ORDINANCE authorizing reimbursement of Officials incurred in promoting the best interest of the City of Brazil – Ordinance 2-1015 would authorize the City of Brazil Common Council to budget and appropriate funds from the General Fund of the City to pay the expense(s) of or to reimburse City Officials, for expenses incurred in promoting the best interest of the City of Brazil. Such promotion expenses would include rental of meeting places, meals, decorations, memorabilia, awards, expenses incurred in developing relations with other units of government and any other expense of a civic or governmental nature deemed by the Mayor to be in the best interest of the City of Brazil. Brad Deal made a motion to suspend the rules and pass on 1st reading; seconded by Tyler Hutcheson. The motion passed 4-0. Brad Deal made a motion to pass Ordinance 2-2015; seconded by Tyler Hutcheson. The motion passed 4-0.
2.) RESOLUTION designating an area within the City of Brazil, Indiana as an Economic Revitalization Area for the Purpose of a Personal Property Tax Abatement-Morris Manufacturing – Morris Manufacturing went through the Redevelopment Commission in February 2015, and they recommended property tax abatement. Tyler Hutcheson made a recommendation for 5-year personal property tax abatement for Morris Manufacturing; seconded by Brad Deal. The motion passed 4-0.

COUNCIL COMMENTS:
Carrol Evans has spoken with Dr. Staadt’s Office. They have had an issue with another business’s mail being delivered to their office. The other business does not have a marked address on their building. Council Members discussed what authority the City has regarding numbering on businesses and houses and how best to approach the situation.
ADJOURNMENT:
Brad Deal made a motion to adjourn meeting, seconded by Carrol Evans. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m.
