MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR MARCH 25, 2015

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on March 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Ruthann Jeffries, Linda Messmer, City Attorney Traci Orman and Deputy Clerk Patty Bedwell
OTHERS PRESENT: Planning and Zoning Administrator Teresa Glenn, Wastewater Superintendent Billy Goodrich, Police Chief Clint McQueen, Brazil Times Representative Ernest Rollins, Daniel Rose
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: March 11, 2015, Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve. Brian Wyndham seconded. The motion passed 2-0. (Linda Messmer was absent.)

OLD BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
1.) Approval for clean ups –Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the Property Clean Up list as presented. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Approval of invoice for FEMA Phase I – Cox, Zwerner, Gambill & Sullivan, LLP – An invoice was presented from Cox, Zwerner, Gambill & Sullivan for services from 12/26/2013 to 3/24/2015, in reference to FEMA/IHCDA-Flood Buyout, Phase I, in the amount of $25,930.75. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the invoice from Cox, Zwerner, Gambill & Sullivan, in the amount of $25,930.75. Linda Messmer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
3.) Approval of invoice for FEMA Phase II – Patriot Engineering – An invoice was presented from Patriot Engineering for Asbestos Inspection and Haz Mat Survey Reports for 4 properties, in the amount of $3,820.00. Ruthann Jeffries made amotion to approve the invoice from Patriot Engineering in the amount of $3,820.00. Linda Messmer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

POLICE CHIEF REPORT: Chief Clint McQueen
-Officer Young is back from the Police Academy, and the Brazil City Police Department
is now fully staffed.
-The Animal Control Officer is doing a good job, and getting comfortable in the new
position after 6 months of employment.
MAYOR’S REPORT:
-The Highway 40 Project will resume on April 1st. Changes in 1-way streets and No Parking areas will be adjusted on the north side to accommodate construction. The project will be ongoing throughout August. Mayor Wyndham assumes that the sidewalks will be worked on through the construction period as well. The Police Department and Fire Department have been given the street closure routes for emergency responses.

1.) Clerk’s Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Utilities’ Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer. Meeting adjourned at10:21 a.m. The motion passed 3-0.
