MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
BRAZIL, INDIANA
FOR DECEMBER JANUARY 14, 2015

A meeting with the Board of Public Works was held on January 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Brazil City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wyndham .
ROLL CALL: Mayor Wyndham, Linda Messmer, Ruthann Jeffries, City Attorney Traci Orman and Deputy Clerk Melissa Dorsett
OTHERS PRESENT: Police Chief Clint McQueen, Fire Chief Jake Bennett, Council Member Carrol Evans, Wastewater Superintendent Billy Goodrich, Brazil Times Representative Ernest Rollings, Daniel Rose, Chris Greenwood
PLEDGE: The pledge to the Flag was lead by Mayor Wyndham.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: December 23, 2014, Linda Messmer made a motion to approve. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS:
Daniel Rose asked about the progress with the Hardest Hit Fund. Mayor Wyndham said that the process is continually evolving, with more criteria being added, but we are in the process of working on it.

Council Member Carrol Evans stated that the BOW is doing a great job.

OLD BUSINESS: NONE

NEW BUSINESS:
1.) Set meeting dates and times for 2015 – Linda Messmer made a motion to set BOW meetings on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Greenwood – Agreement for Reduction in Wastewater Bill – Chris Greenwood would like to renew his agreement for a reduction in his wastewater bill for the 2015 year. He has had no expenditures for the 2014 year. Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve the wastewater agreement between City of Brazil Utilities and Chris Greenwood, which gives Mr. Greenwood a 10% monthly reduction on his bill. Linda Messmer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
3.) Cell Phone Reimbursement for 2015 – Justin Bryan, Water Distribution Leak Crew member needs to be added to the cell phone reimbursement list for 2015. Sam Glover needs to be removed. Linda Messmer made a motion to approve the new Cell Phone Reimbursement list for 2015. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
POLICE CHIEF REPORT:
Police Chief Clint McQueen provided a 2014 City Police Incident Report with a total of 6801 calls for the year. He listed the top ten incidents as traffic stops with warnings, suspicious activities, traffic stops with tickets, animal complaints, domestic disputes, vehicle crashes, theft-property, assisting persons/agencies, juvenile complaints and lock out requests.
CLAIMS:
1.) Clerk’s Office – Ruthann Jeffries made a motion to approve. Linda Messmer seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
2.) Utilities’ Office – Linda Messmer made a motion to approve. Ruthann Jeffries seconded. The motion passed 3-0.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ruthann Jeffries; seconded by Linda Messmer. Meeting adjourned 10:25 a.m. The motion passed 3-0.
